More light, without losing acoustic comfort or connection to the rest of the house
Glass-insert wooden doors were still visually heavy and out of sync with the rest of the interior
Solid barn doors that completely blocked daylight when closed
What we had to work with
The decisions
We kept the existing double swing door configuration — it was already the most functional solution for these openings.
The update focused on replacing heavy, visually dominant doors with a lighter glass system that fits the architecture and brings consistency across the space.
Sliding door with a fixed side panel. The left side remains the primary passage; the right works as a visual boundary.
No center horizontal division — to keep the view into the living room clean and uninterrupted.
The result
Natural light fully preserved
Acoustic privacy when needed
Clear separation without visual loss
Visual consistency across multiple openings
The rest of the house
Gym
The gym needed visual separation without feeling closed off.
A sliding glass partition was the way to go.
Wine room
The wine room required a sealed, lockable enclosure without compromising visibility or design
